Since most buyers have a trade-in, the more you get for your&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/jimhenry\/2020\/10\/28\/going-up-the-value-of-that-big-used-pickup-in-the-driveway\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">trade-in<\/a>, the less your monthly payment will be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s the good news.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wholesale used-vehicle prices are at or near \u201chistorically high\u201d levels, for many of the same basic reasons as new vehicles, says Tom Kontos, chief economist for wholesale used-vehicle auction firm&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.karglobal.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">KAR Global<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTight supply and high demand continue to drive wholesale prices and conversion rates to historically high levels,\u201d Kontos says in a March 29 report on wholesale used-vehicle values for the month of February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Conversion rate refers to number of units sold at dealer-only auctions, as a percentage of the number of units offered.
